Just Ask

I'm reminded today of how God attends to the seemingly small details of our lives.  He so cares about the desires of our heart.  He is so eager to show us just how much he cares, we need only ask.

This morning in the shower, I prayed a simple prayer for reassurance in a particular area.  I don't remember the exact words I spoke to the Lord, but it went something like this.  "God, I just need a little something, a little extra reassurance in this area today.  And if you don't want me to have that, then please just help me to move on, and to find You enough to fill all the areas of my heart-this one in particular.  Just tend to my heart in this area today, so that you receive glory." 

This was around 7:45 this morning.  Before 10:00, I had my reassurance.  It came in the simple form of a text message.  An unknowing person, who responded to what they probably didn't even know was a prompting from the Holy Spirit, who was at work, behind the scenes, attending to the needs of his daughter. Just the right person, with just the right words, in a simple text at just the right time.  God in Heaven, satisfying all areas of my heart-reminding me yet once again, of how much He loves me.

God loves us so much. He so wants to meet every need and be everything to us. He cares so much about the small details of our relationships and feelings. There's nothing too insignificant or trivial to bring to Him.  He wants to give us all he has to offer, He just wants us to ask.  Today, I am so glad I asked. 

""Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it."  John 14:13-14

Growing Pains

One night recently, after he'd been asleep several hours, my baby boy became very restless in his slumber.  After determining he had no fever, but watching him continue to moan, thrash and shudder in his sleep I grew concerned and asked his daddy to come observe for a few moments.  We noticed he was reaching for his legs and squeezing them, while still caught in an uncomfortable state of not being awake, but certainly not fully asleep either. This is when I learned that earlier in the evening, he'd complained of his legs hurting. I'd been out of the house that evening, and daddy had done bedtime without me. A New Song

Have you ever been broken before the Lord? I mean truly broken?  This morning in church, we were singing one of my all time favorite worship songs. It's been a while since we've sang it, and I was excited to hear the  strumming of chords on the guitar, as our new worship leader, Victoria, transitioned into "Forever Reign."  I had no idea what the Lord had in store for me at that moment.  I've been praying lately for a clean heart. A Lesson From My Son

Recently my five year old son overheard an adult he doesn't know say "Oh my God" multiple times in a row in reaction to something going on.  This bothered him. A lot. With confusion and brokenheartedness all over his face, he walked over to me in a soft voice and said "Mommy, that lady keeps saying Oh my God." He had tears in his eyes.  I should mention that we have talked to Walker about why we don't use the Lord's name in vain, and what that means. But the conversations haven't been lengthy, and it hasn't been an issue in our home or family. He hasn't been in trouble or chided by anyone about such usage.  I can't shake the image of his expression when he came to me. A small child, a new member of the family of God.
